About Anne

While I was born in Detroit, I have lived in Texas the majority of my life (Sugar Land and Austin). I have also lived in Sarasota, Florida and Cologne, Germany. In the late 1900s I graduated from University of Texas at Austin with a degree in English. For many years I did freelance writing while raising two kids with my husband. As they approached their teen years I realized it was time to plan for my next chapter. Becoming a therapist had been a long-held dream so, much to their amusement, I joined my kids in sweating over papers and tests. I am a life-long singer and have enjoyed singing in choirs and bands over the years. Currently I am too sleepy to be in a band so I have pivoted to recording songs. I also do improv, which I believe has shaped me as a therapist more than you might imagine. I devote a lot of time to making sure my pets know they are the prettiest and the best. Don’t worry, I know your pets are also the prettiest and the best.

What Therapy with me is like

Whatever you bring in will be met with warmth, curiosity, and, when appropriate, humor. I provide a calm, nurturing environment that draws from both the power of relationship as well as an understanding of the brain to help clients overcome challenges. I am part of the queer community and affirming of all genders and sexualities. I am sex positive and welcome all relationship styles. Clients have described my style as compassionately direct and grounding. A few, after having done EMDR, have called me a brain witch. I will admit that is perhaps my favorite descriptor.
