Identity Work
A lot of therapy, at its core, is identity work: figuring out who you are, exploring what you were told to be, as well as what you've had to be to get by.
Who you are can mean a lot of things: I'm affirming of all genders and sexualities; I'm sex-positive and welcome all relationship styles, including ethical non-monogamy. I also weave racial and cultural identity into the work regularly — how it's shaped you, where it's shown up in your relationships, what it means to hold multiple identities at once. And I spend a good amount of time with clients exploring their changing relationship to religion and spirituality, whether that's questioning what you were raised with, grieving a faith you've lost, or finding something new.
Wherever you're doing this kind of exploring, I aim to meet it with curiosity rather than an agenda. You get to define who you are. My job is to help you get there with more clarity and less shame. It is always better to understand yourself. Could be scary
