Trauma & EMDR

Trauma isn't only the actual experience, it's what your nervous system decided to do about it, and is often still doing, long after the event itself is over. Part of our work is helping you explore and understand that response. I work with attachment wounds, complex or relational trauma, as well as singular traumatic events.

I'm a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist — meaning I've completed 20 hours of individual consultation alongside advanced training, and I continue ongoing training to maintain that certification. EMDR is a powerful modality that can be used for a variety of issues. Most associated with PTSD and trauma, it can also be used for depression, anxiety, grief and loss, phobias, low self-esteem, as well as many other issues. While everyone’s experience is unique, many clients have described great relief, healing, and change after completing the process. It is after EMDR sessions that several of my clients have called me a brain witch.

I don't use EMDR with everyone. I also draw on Internal Family Systems, Ego State Therapy, and Interpersonal Neurobiology. Whatever our work looks like, the goal is the same: helping your system not respond to the trauma as if it is happening in the present moment.
